Important things in life

Everyone has hard times in their lives. Most of us are making our way through this experience doing the best that we can. Some people are faced with harder things in their lives than others.

Tonight when I went to work I found out that one of my co-workers lost her son last Monday.
He had Cystic Fibrosis.
He was eight years old.
Christmas day he became sick which turned into pneunomia which led to his death.
My co-worker will never be the same.

The only thing that is important in this life is the way that we love eachother. Relationships, jobs, money, material posessions, mean commenters.
Do they really matter?
Do they?

No.
They don't.

What matters is that we live our lives with love in our hearts trying to see each other (and ourselves,) the way that God sees us.
Perfect beings of light and love (minus all of our human-ness.)

Strip everything else away and what do you have left?
Only love.
Hug your kids.
Be nice to others.
Be NICE.
Be loving.

"Love God with all of your heart and all your soul and love eachother as you love yourself"--Matthew 22:36-40
Amen.

Oh lady I am so sorry to hear that. How horrible for her, I cant even imagine.

My kids arent home right now, so Im going to go hug my Hermione, but they will get hugs when they come home in the morning.

And I agree with you, family and love and time together are all that matters.

That is awful.
Losing a child. That has to be the most horrible thing to happen to anyone.
Please give her big hugs for us.
I heart you.

It is heartbreaking, but I will be unable to give her any hugs.

She is an extremely private person and does not wish to be contacted by any of her co-workers, (even those she has worked with for ten years or more.) She will not give out her address for cards to be sent and does not want to be visited.

It's very sad, I know that I could never, ever survive that way.

She will not be returning to work, ever, so my prayers (and yours,) will have to go out to the universe anonymously, (which is good too.)

I've always know that at the end of my life what will matter is the love of my family and friends...but this is certainly a reminder of that.

It was great to see you yesterday Woo. We've missed you. And nobody had touched Swoopie's nose in a very long time.

Love and hugs.

Angie

Everyone feels obliged to leave messages of sympathy for the poor dead kid - I don't wish to dwell on heartbreak - I don't miss the point that corny as it may sound it's perfectly true, love is all we have.

You talk of praying and God in a very Christian-flavoured manner, but "Love is the Law" is even what the self-styled Beast 666 Aleister Crowley said... Everyone is in agreement, on both sides of the coin / every face of the 1000 faceted diamond / the 10,000,000 petalled lotus... However and whatever... Love to Portland Oregon from where I am too...

I feel for her. I lost my wife of 33 years in October and I know I will never be the same again. One thing for sure though, my son and I never, and I mean never, say hello or goodbye to each other without a hug and 90% of the time, an "I love you". Trust me, people you love can be snatched from you at any moment.

Ang: Love to you woo's and to swoopies nose.

Lazy:
I do speak in a Christian-flavored manner because I identify strongly with the teachings of Christ.

But I agree completely with you that everyone agrees on love in their style of dogma, whatever it is, if it is based on love, it is what we can call "God" even if we do not understand what that is.

BTExpress: I'm so sorry for your loss.

My regards for your co-worker- thats something I cant even imagine going through.

What you wrote is just beautiful. If everyone thought that way, this world would be a much better place.

I remember seeing a movie when I was a kid about another kid who had Cystic Fibrosis. It's such a horrible disease.
My heart goes out to your co-worker.

As for the rest of your comment, I think we all need to focus on being nicer and more loving, and forget about all the other stupid things in life. I know I need to do that. For sure.

Keep your chin up.

That is absolutely unimaginable. My thoughts are with that woman and her family - even if she doesn't want contact right now. When I was in high school, a woman I worked with had a son with Cystic Fibrosis, and I remember how horrified and panicked she would be when he was sick...she never knew if that was the last time. Last I heard he was a teenager...

Great post, RSG....hugs and love to you and your DDs too!

(btw, one of my friends IRL is a friendly lurker of yours...she totally hearts your blog!)

I had a friend growing up who died of CF at 20. He would take long, hot showers to help try and clear his lungs.

You just reminded me that it's time for me to donate to the again in his name.

So sorry to hear about your friend's loss.
