I really have nothing to blog about.

LBCG told me today that I haven't blogged in awhile and I agree, I just don't know what to blog about. The kids are good, my glamorous waitressing job is good, no major traumas to report. Life is okey-dokey.

So, I'm playing on the little football thingy over at Kristines. Guess who has the number 1 and 2 spots for picking the winning teams last week???
Yes, it's me. I forgot to add my name the first time I picked; which is why I have two spots, (the TOP two spots...)
I am sooooo butch.

I made home-made macaraoni and cheese with four cheeses in a bechamel sauce last night.

I have open house at school tonight.

I bought three new long sleeved shirts at Target today; all the same, just three different colors; black, grey, and brown. I wanted the dark red but they didn't have my size.
I also bought Gain detergent (my favorite, on sale, for 8.79,) Downy Simple Pleasures in Magnolia scent, (also on sale,) and Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, (on sale...)
I heart Target.

I spent $50.60 filling my gas tank today.
I do NOT heart George W. Bush.

I was missing Pissy and Kristine today. Pissy is sad, so that makes me sad. I want to go outside and smoke with her; but she's in Tennesee. Kristine is in pain; I want to give her drugs; but she is in California with my dog Mushu and my laptop power cord.

I volunteered in DD#1's classroom today; we did reading groups discussing the TIME magazine for Kids article on Hurricane Katrina. One kid asked, "Why didn't they build the flood walls higher?" To which I responded, "Because President Bush cut New Orleans flood prevention federal funding by 42 million dollars"
I love molding young minds!!!

Two minutes left, then I'm off to pick up DD#2 and 3 from school, drive them to piano, drive back to the school to pick up DD#1 from choir, drive back to pick up the other two from piano, take DD#2 to Girl Scouts, pick her up, then take the little one to soccer at 5:30. Open house at 6:30 and hopefully my mom will have the girls fed, showered and ready for bed by the time I get home. Whew, I'm tired already, and I haven't even left yet.
And XH says I'm doing "nothing" with my life. HAAA! Who does he think is raising OUR children?

Gotta go, Ciao y'all.

I hope you encourage your daughter to stay in Girl Scouts. As an active adult Girl Scout I know what great programs it can provide. :)

Good lord, woman. You're a walking, talking, breathing Taxi service! You know, awhile back I was going to make some smart-ass comment about you not being the "typical" soccer mom, despite those soccer pics, because you're just so damn cool, but now after that description, maybe you really are a soccer mom, just a much cooler one than those I know! :)

Glad you blogged, always like reading what you write!

At least you called him "President Bush." I could think of worse things.

So, are the GIRL Scouts more open-minded than the Boy Scouts?

RSG, I think you're swell! And we like the same TV! Because Buffy rules! :)

That being said, maybe next time you are helping out in a classroom and a child asks you about why the levees weren't built bigger, you could say, "Because the projected fortifications to New Orleans' levees have been hampered for more than two decades by environmentalists filing lawsuits to prevent it!" Because, as far as I know, this levee situation has been apparent since the 60's. Or before. I mean, scientists have been talking forever about New Orleans’ vulnerability to the potential for massive loss of life caused by such things as the environmentalists’ lawsuit to Save the Wetlands. Five years of Bush in office, cutting funds even, could not make a dent in that.

Sorry RSG. I think that was a tad inappropriate in a classroom. Not because I believe you should censor your beliefs, not at all! Say whatever you want! That's your right! But because in a school, you are supposed to be unbiased. Even as a high school teacher, I had to rein it in. Which was HARD, yo?!

Okay, back to lurking. But seriously, I DO admire your strong convictions. You go, girl.

Angie: Thanks for stopping by, yes I like the girl scouts; I just don't have the time to dedicate like I used to (as a leader.)

Shelly/Angie: Hi girls. Yes, please call me!!!

Sassy: I'm the "lesbian" soccer mom; which makes me much more hip and cool!

Kami: Oh I could think of worse things to call him too...
Yes, the girl scouts are cool; they are not affiliated with the boy scouts and all their discrimination at all. They are open and affirming and allow people of all religious beliefs; even athiests.

Kristine/Shaun/Pissy: Hmmmm. Let's see; we'll all live in a ranch in Texas...Five adults, eleven kids, three dogs, a bunch of fish??? WHo's gonna bleach that place??? Who's doing the dishes? I am NOT cooking for all those people...Shaun????

Mooshu loves me best!

D: I'm pretty sure it is Bush's fault. He hates Canadiens and he doesn't want them to have any fun at all. He has a big problem with all of those U's that you all use. It confuses the shit out of him!

Camille: You are so sweet to stop by; glad to see you :)

Cat:
I'm so glad you stopped by my Buffy loving friend.

Believe you me; that was showing restraint and being unbiased. If I were being truthful I would have said that our esteemed president is part of one of the biggest crime families that our country has ever seen. That he ignored the FEMA report in 2001 stating that our country was vulnerable to a terrorist attack in NYC and to a major hurricane in N.O. just so those things would hopefully happen and he cold get rid of a bunch of people who didn't support him; mostly liberals, black people, and poor people. That he took the disasters opportunity to go to war in Iraq and make defense contractors, weapons manufacturers, and Halliburton a lot of money. That he reconfigured FEMA so that private contractors could do what they want and money could be awarded to the people that HE wanted to have it (like Floridians in 2004; an election year in a swing state.) That he is going to push to have private contractors rebuild New Orleans so that they can get rid of the French history and architecture and put up some good old American strip malls where all of those people on paid government vacation can get a real job making five dollars an hour.

That would have been the "biased" me...

I don't doubt anything you stated; but the money I was referring to was the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program which was cut in half by the Bush administration in 2003. This money is granted to areas where disasters are more likely to occur so that they can better prepare for the disaster before it occurs. In the case of NO, they could have used the money to at least "strengthen" the levees. In the summer of 2004, FEMA denied Louisiana's pre-disaster mitigation funding requests. In June of 2004, The Army Corps of Engineers budget for levee construction in NO was slashed because the money was moved to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq. The Bush administration also eliminated "Project Impact" which was also money that could have helped N.O. and the war in Iraq.

Environmentalists or not, the didn't have the money that they needed to finish the levee project in the summer of 2004 and that was directly because of the White House cutting that budget for the war in Iraq.

I did tell an un-truth to that little girl though...I said that funding was cut by $42 million and actually the New Orleans district of the US Army Corp of Engineers funding was cut by $71.2 million. The hardest hit area was the SE Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project which was created in 1995 to improve drainage in Jefferson, Orleans, and St. Tammany parishes.

And Cat, don't go back to lurking... I like you!!!
