Rita

Is a Bitch-Ass-Ho!!

I am so bummed that so many people are going to be again affected by another fucking hurricane.

I've been reading the blogs of our friends in the area and I'm just sick that they have had to pack up and leave their homes; it really makes me sad.

Please keep Valerie , her friend Kim, and Merry Widow in your thoughts and prayers. Sassyfemme and her partner are preparing for the storm. They live inland so they will probably be fine; but I'm thinking of them as well. I'm still getting around to everyone to check on our Houston friends. Shelly's parents are staying in their home and riding out the storm. They only live about 30 miles inland and Shelly and Angie are VERY worried about them.

In 1992, I was living in South Florida when Hurricane Andrew hit. I, being from the NE, did not have one inkling of what to do in a hurricane; luckily my husband at the time, (XH#1,) did. We lived about 11 miles inland between Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton and we lived in an older house that was built better than a lot of the newer ones; it was made out of steel beams and poured concrete. We had storm shutters on all of our windows and a newer roof. We were looking okay and we even had friends who lived on the inter-coastal waterway who came to stay with us.

I went to Wal-Mart (this was pre-boycotting,) to buy supplies. Never being in a hurricane before, I just looked to see what everyone else was buying; water, batteries, etc. There was a big ass display of Clorox bleach and everyone was buying some. I had no idea why, but I figured that everyone else knew what they were doing, so I bought two gallons. Later I found out that you can sanitize water with it to make it potable. Perhaps that is when my love affair with bleach began!

When the storm started, it was later at night. I was so nervous I didn't know what to do with myself. About ten o'clock we heard loud popping, explosions noises, they were the electrical transmitters; that was the end of our electricity for several days.

Throughout the night the storm blew.

Andrew changed his course and shifted south at the last minute to a place that was NOT expecting him; Homestead, Florida. I will never forget the sounds of the people calling the weatherman on the radio screaming, "When is it going to be over???" It was terrifying for me, I can't imagine how they must have felt. The weatherman was telling them to cover themselves with their mattresses, get into an interior room; he was so calm and collected. He really helped a lot of people to ride out the storm by talking them through the entire night. That weatherman's name was Bryan Norcross, I have never forgotten him, and I will always consider him a hero.

Tragedy makes a lot of people hero's; and I'm sure we will see more of them rising up our of Rita's wake. With all of the bad things in the world; it is so comforting to know that when push comes to shove, and shove comes to need, we really are all there for eachother.

Imagine if we could have that kind of mentality all of the time in every act, throughout every day of our lives. That we every day, woke up and found ways to give of ourselves, our time, our talent, and our treasure, to others. Imagine what kind of world we would live in then.

Maybe that is one of the lessons that we can all learn from those two bitches Katrina and Rita. Let's not wait for tragedy to be good to one another; to give to others, to help, to love our neighbors. To lay hands on other people with compassion and kindness and heart. Let's try to do it without the tragedy of a big-ass-mother-fucking hurricane.

Let's just do it because we can.

In closing; I'm blaming these hurricanes on George W. Bush... It's GOT to be his fault.
I DO NOT heart him.

HAHAHAH! Just yesterday I was having a politics oriented chat with a couple co-workers and I just blurted out "I think it's God's retribution for George W. Bush!"

I was reading on some guys blog how he's noticed that women seem to fall into 2 camps. One side being women who think he's OK. Maybe they voted for him; maybe not. But they think he's a good leader (retch!)

The other camp of HATES him with a fervor, wanting him to die a horrible, painful death and then burn in hell. I'm in the latter group. I just can't believe our country elected (not) this MORON twice.

Thanks Woo. We are so worried about my parents but hopefully they will be OK.

I had never known of anyone to leave because of a hurricane when I was a Texan...NOW, I can't understand why people would stay & go through so much needless stress...especially my parents.

I'm crossing my fingers & hoping for the best.

I blame GWB too:)
I am in the 2nd camp that Lori mentioned & she is my new hero...I am on my way to check out her blog now.

George is a fucker. Asshole. Anyway, get this shit: my GMIL told the hubs that the Russians have the capability to steer hurricanes, and they did just that with Katrina. Oooookay. I'd be more inclined to blame Shrub. ;) We're just going to get spinoffs from Rita here, but I hope we don't get too many tornadoes. Yikes.

Yes, yes indeed, it is a bush problem. The unshaved, hormone driven, wind-whipped bushes of Rita and Katrina

Thanks for mentioning us RSG, but we're totally out of harms way now that it's gone a little further to the northwest rather than just the west. We're now, like everyone else, worrying about those still trying to make it out, or staying to ride it out. Shelly, didn't know your parents were on the coast, will keep them in my thoughts/prayers.

I love your thoughts on let's not wait for tragedy to be good to one another. How very, very true!!!

As for George the pompous ass, He is so not worth my time or energy. I have so much animosity towards him, it'd eat me up if I let it.

I love the thought of tragedy not being the only reason we all show the goodness we have inside.
It would be a much better world if we acted as well during non-disasterous times.

As far as Bush goes....
I will refrain from saying anything and risk spoiling my wonderful mood :)

Wishing for the safety of anyone in Rita's path. She looks to be quite the bitch.

Rita is a bitch. I'm sure GWB probably slept with her when he was young and she is taking it out on Texas. Women are vengeful!

RE your post about church: I am so saddened by what you have had to go through. My husband and I were talking just the other day about how many 'sins' are forgiven in the church's eyes (even murder!) yet homosexuality is absolutely not tolerated. Ridiculous. Sad, too. I hope you are able to find a church more accepting. There are ones out there for sure.

If you have seen the news this morning. Thousands of people are still stuck, gridlocked on the freeways. A big-haired Texas Aggie Republican Bush-ass-kisser Perry announced to the world just 4 days ago that Texas was prepared and ready for Rita.

And to make matters worse. 24 elderly patients from a nursing home in Bellaire are now dead. The bus they were riding in pulled off the road and into the grassy median of I45 this morning near Dallas. The overheated brakes sparked with the grass, coupled with the elderly patient's oxygen tanks... the bus exploded. There is nothing left of the bus.

If Texas was really ready they would have made all roads Northbound only a good 24-36 hours earlier than they did and the gridlock wouldn't be so bad. We will never be ready as long as Bush-ass-kissers are in control.

The hurricane may not be Bush's fault, but the death of those beloved 24 elderly (and more than likely) grandparents (Nanas and Pawpaw) IS BUSH's FAULT!

also, why would they turn the highways around that early? the people who ARE STAYING need a way to get around, too. As someone who lives here, here is the problem: They had a plan for evacuating, but unfortunately, they didn't plan for all the people that lived inland packing up as well. If you have 1.5 million people packing the highways, it will be hell. I'm not a big Perry fan but I think he is doing a good job. They've done really well getting people out (Katrina, anyone?)but, these bad things will happen. They are trying to do the best they can with a very large amount of people and everyone is just too ready to point fingers already.

OH, and I don't heart GW2 either, but I do heart you!!!
