Bank of America sucks

So I refinanced my second mortgage at a lower interest rate for five years less and while I did that I paid off my stupid ass Bank of America Visa that unbeknownst to me was at 29 fucking percent interest. Because of my complete stupidity and ignorance to all things financial, I racked up a HUGE bill consisting mostly of finance charges. So I walk into Bank of America, tell them I want to pay the balance and close the account. I wrote them a check, received a letter that my account was closed and low and behold. . .I get a fucking statement today stating that I owe them $22.37 in FINANCE charges. FOR WHAT??????? How can I owe a finance charge on a zero balance on a closed account??
Those motherfuckers.
So I try to call my branch.
They're closed.
Until 10:00.
What lazy asses.
If I have to get my ass out of bed to take kids to school at 7:30, they should be there banking.
I am so pissed right now I could scream.
And I think I will, at the stupid Bank of America people!

Oh goody! A problem that I'm an "expert" at!

When you carry a balance you accrue interest for every day the balance is on the account. When you go to pay it off, the balance you're given doesn't include finance charges for the cycle that you are currently in. At the end of the cycle you're sent a bill showing what the finance charge was up until the day they received your payment. And if THAT balance is paid in full by the due date then it will put your account at a zero balance.

Heh, doesn't sound like I've said that shit a million times before, does it?

thanks Chickie, I spoke to them and they told me the same thing; but because my account is closed I have to mail the check or go into the branch otherwise it's a 15 dollar finance charge.

Why do banks always try to screw you???

Yes, chickie is correct, BUT!

When you walk into a bank and tell them that you want to pay off an account and close it... they should give you the pay-off balance with the interest-to-date included, so that RSG could have paid it all off at one time.

Yes, the Bank fucked up. Scream at them.

Found you through another blog - and I love what you have to say. I don't trust banks either! Wouldn't the world be a better place if we ALL worked bankers hours?

BOA is more like Charge you up the @$$ of America. Even the "regular" charges for checking accounts there are beyond belief. Think small, local credit unions, if you can.

Wow, I guess I really touched a nerve with my blog friends!

I'm in the process of transferring all of my banking to my credit union. I just need to get a direct deposit changed, then I'm set. They have also been charging me 9.95 per month for online banking after they told me I was grandfathered in and didn't have to pay that fee.

AHHHHH!

Hate them.
