It snowed

Do you know what that means?
My children will be home for their last two days of school before Christmas break, driving me crazy.

I know a little dusting of snow may not sound like much to all of you who live in snowy places like Chicago and such, but for us, it's a BIG deal. It snowed two years ago and the whole city of Portland was shut down for over a week, it was unbelievable. The airport was closed, the city offices were closed, the kids were out of school for an entire week; I thought I would die.

If the weatherperson is right, (they usually aren't,) we will be getting freezing rain tonight to go along with the half inch of snow that we received earlier and I'll be screwed.

Help me.

Send cookies.

Or booze.

Or both.

I am for both cookies and booze.
They work well together.

You think people go nuts there when it snows.
Our schools close when it rains too hard here.
If we get rain the day before and some of it happens to freeze into ice on bridges then schools are closed for 2 days. My senior year of high school we had an ice storn here. Schools were closed for 3 weeks.

OHH RSG,
I'm so sorry! We had freezing rain here- and worse than a kid off school, I had CJ home all week with a sore back,... I can tell you a thing or two about losing my mind!

I have a recipe for gingerbread- watch Martha Stewart today at noon with the girls then bake off some gingerbread and let them entertain themselves!

CJ wishes it had snowed here. Crazy, completely crazy.

I hope you were able to entertain yourself by taking Ginger for a walk in the snow. Wink turns into a CRAZY DOG in this snow! Loves it like crazy!

Hang in there...

Send the girls outside wtih a cardboard box to go sledding! The way Portland shuts down is the same as San Antonio. You'd think a blizzard had hit. Note... next time you they forecast even the slightest potential of winter weather, make a quick trip to the grocery or liquor store and stock up! :)

Sending cookies and booze via the Polar Express!!

And I'm praying for a snow-free winter - crutches and ice do not make a happy combination!

The ice storm was a bust and we were left with just rain. The temperature has risen from the low thirties here to the 40's. It's 64 degrees (F, d...) at the Oregon Coast!

Kids had a two hour delay yesterday and schools on for the last day before Winter Break today!

Still send cookies, and booze, I'll still be needing them!

Fuckin' oh! We're looking forward to tomorrow when the high temp gets UP to 35F! Snow won't melt, though. It's too fuckin' cold to walk to work or the store or anywhere, and I fucking HATE paying for parking at work, but I do it anyway.

I'm walking tomorrow, though. It should only be like 20 instead of 4 when I leave....

But I'm with you re the kids at home...oh. my. god.
